These factors enabled a comprehensive assessment of both the printability of a component and the potential value generated by utilizing 3D printing, considering aspects like material suitability, geometric complexity, cost-benefit analysis, and strategic importance. From the initial analysis of the first 10,000 parts, prioritized based on criticality and printability, an impressive 50 parts were identified that collectively offered the potential for at least 1,000 days of lead time savings per component. This translates directly into enhanced operational readiness and significantly reduced downtime for vital military assets.

Building on the solid foundation of its initial success, the partnership is set to expand its achievements significantly in the second year of the contract. The primary objective for this phase is to further configure 3YOURMIND’s advanced software, ensuring deep integration with both proprietary Marine Corps systems and various third-party applications. A critical focus will be the integration with PTC Windchill, a robust Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system extensively utilized by the DMDV. This integration will create a more unified and comprehensive data environment, enabling better data management, version control, and accessibility throughout the entire product lifecycle. Moreover, AMOC plans to introduce innovative capabilities for 2D drawing analysis. This will enable the efficient bulk analysis of traditional technical data packages, a treasure trove of legacy designs, allowing for rapid identification of compelling additive manufacturing use cases that might otherwise remain undiscovered within vast archives. This capability is vital for converting historical data into actionable insights for modern manufacturing.

Federal Division, and the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Pacific.
