UniZ are an American additive manufacturing startup from San Diego which opened its doors back in 2014. The starting team was composed of engineers, entrepreneurs, and designers. Since then, UniZ have released their currently available SLASH and SLASH+ UDP 3D printers. Despite the price difference, they are claimed to compete in speed with Carbon 3D’s CLIP technology. With 1 day left in their Kickstarter campaign, they have reached over 8 times their target amount already. This Kickstarter campaign is for their new SLASH OL 3D printers, including a low-priced alternative to their current range.
When we think of affordable stereolithography or DLP 3D printers, are minds are naturally drawn towards Formlabs, who pioneered the desktop SLA 3D printer. Their Form 2 3D printer has already been widely adopted in the dental and hearing aids sectors. However, they claim that their desktop SLA 3D printers are not only cheaper, but also over 100 times faster!

A speed comparison from UniZ’s Kickstarter page.
UniZ: Super-Fast 3D Printer?
It is important to remember that this has come from UniZ themselves, and we are not saying these figures are from us. However, if UniZ really do have capabilities to 3D print whole models of teeth in just 45 / 13.5 seconds (OL / ZSLTV15), then this completely changes the game. The ability to make full sets of teeth whilst a patient has an appointment is potentially invaluable.
