You may remember Nano Dimension from our interview we did with them not too long ago, but since our interview it looks like they have been hard at work to bring 3D printing to the next level through 3D Bioprinting. Nano Dimension was founded in 2012 and has since created a subsidiary Nano Dimension Technologies Ltd., who is working to bring unique products and advanced technologies to the world of medicine.

Under their subsidiary, Nano Dimension Technologies Ltd., they have filed a patent application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, in order to continue their developments with 3D inkjet printing of bio-artificial multi-layered complex structures that are composed of cells, extracellular matrices, supportive components and stable, fugitive inks.

Bioprinting

While this all sounds very complicated (which I’m sure it is), in layman’s terms, Nano Dimension is looking to help create structures for the kidneys that would allow the filtering of whole blood flow. This will allow for the 3D Bioprinting of complex functioning structures that mimic that of our blood filtration process within the Kidney’s functional unit (nephron).
