Desktop Metal announced at RAPID + TCT 2019 that they have made a strategic partnership with Indo-MIM, the global leader and world’s largest supplier of Metal Injection Molding (MIM) precision-engineered products. Desktop Metal, founded in 2015 has made it its goal to make metal 3D printing easily accessible to manufacturers and engineers. It was big news at the end of January when the company secured $160 million in funding. The manufacturer based in Massachusetts has created two complementary 3D printing solutions, their Studio System and Production System, both aiming to create functional 3D printed parts in a cost-effective way. This latest partnership will allow Desktop Metal and Indo-MIM to further offer innovative solutions to companies around the world to design and produce metal 3D printed parts at scale in a short amount of time using Desktop Metal’s Production System.

Indo-MIM delivers over 100 million metal parts annually to leading global OEMs – together with Desktop Metal, it will continue to deliver high-precision metal 3D printed parts to companies spanning the automotive, aerospace, medical, industrial machinery industries and more. Krishna Chivukula, Jr., CEO of Indo-MIM said, “This is a major step forward in the progress of additive manufacturing. As the world’s largest MIM house, we know our customers in automotive, aerospace and other key industries will reap the benefits of this new mass manufacturing technology.
