In the automotive industry, innovative approaches and exceptional features are essential to stand out from the competition. Advancements in development methods, materials, and design are key factors in this race. Toyota’s customization and development department is continually striving to introduce and test new innovations. TCD Asia (Toyota Customizing & Development) produces vehicle accessories for various Toyota models and has now unveiled a new high-performance SUV concept featuring 3D printed parts and cutting-edge materials. These advancements are made possible through collaborations with the Japanese companies Mitsui Chemicals and ARRK Corporation. Let’s take a closer look at what the Toyota Hyper-F concept car is all about.

The Hyper-F concept car is based on the Toyota Fortuner, also developed by TCD Asia. Leveraging their motorsport experience, TCD Asia designed this new SUV concept to deliver high performance and a unique user experience. Unlike conventional two-seaters, this model features four sports seats. The performance is further enhanced by the use of 3D printed components and innovative materials.

It’s no secret that 3D printing is increasingly being used in automotive manufacturing. In this case, TCD Asia relied on the advanced technology from Mitsui Chemicals. The company uses 3D printing with pellets to produce parts from plastic granulate at low cost. This reduces development times and investment costs. In addition, the 3D printed parts are said to be particularly stable and it is also possible to print large-format parts. On the Toyota Hyper-F concept car, 3D printed components therefore adorn the panels of the hood air ducts.
