Thomas Reiher; CEO and co-founder of AMendate
“AMendate is not just another software; it’s a specialized solution for the simple and fully automatic optimization of technical components specifically for additive manufacturing. Our technology directly addresses and replaces the currently very complex and often manual processes involved in producing lightweight geometries. The initial spark for developing this software ignited during our time at the university and the local research center for additive manufacturing. It became abundantly clear that 3D printing offers immense opportunities for lightweight construction, particularly through the cost-efficient production of intricate, bionic-inspired structures.
As part of my research for my dissertation, I was deeply involved in the creation of such complex structures, wrestling with the challenges of translating theoretical optimizations into practical, manufacturable designs. Concurrently, my co-founder Steffen Vogelsang and I cultivated this idea over a period of three years, refining it into a robust and functioning technology. What we developed quickly garnered significant interest from numerous companies who recognized the immense potential for their own product development. This positive reception spurred us to take the next step: to professionally and full-time pursue this project as a start-up. We successfully applied for an EXIST scholarship, which provided crucial early-stage funding and validation. Since July 2018, three key members of our team have been financed through this scholarship, allowing us to establish our operations within garage33, the incubator of the University of Paderborn. With our dedicated workspace, we are now fully empowered to truly get started and bring our vision to life.”
